ONLY ONE WATER is an ongoing series of cameraless cyanotypes made with water from different sources (taps, rivers, pools, fountains, toilets, wells, oceans, lakes, rain, snow), in different locations around the world, including so far valleys and mountains in the Alpine region, the highlands of Jalisco, and islands and coastal regions in the Mediterranean and the Pacific. Each individual image emerges as the result of an interaction between the light-sensitive cyanotype emulsion, specific weather conditions, the quality of the water and what it holds - dust, sand, soil, minerals, algae, plastic debris. These interactions create pools of colour and oxidation which hold a material trace of the landcape in them. This project is a reminder that all forms of life on this planet are connected through the water which supports our existence and the universal laws it follows. That there has always been, and there will only ever be, one water, for all of us, for all of time.
